After 18 months a complete let-down

Summary
I would not recommend this TV. It is great at first but has poor staying power. Philips were helpful to advise about the factory settings, but were less helpful when the problem with this product was conveyed to them.

- What are the strengths?
- Great picture when working. It appeared almost 3d at times when reception was good.
- What are the weaknesses?
- I previously owned a Thomson LCD TV, but purchased the Phillips as freeview was built in. The Thomson worked off an original aerial with a booster as this area has a poor reception for digital. Rarely had any interference with the Thomson. After installing the Phillips I continually had picture break-up especially when high pressure was prevalent. I had a new digital aerial installed six months ago but this only slightly improved the situation. When there was a digital switch in October the Philips would pick-up the new stations but lose them when the TV was switched off ( to save electricity at stand-by ). Phoned Philips and was advised to press the menu button at the side of the machine to acquire the factory setting menu. This worked and the TV was able to receive and store the new digital set-up. This lasted for 24 hours. When turning on the TV at the switch the next day there was a screen of red lines; no picture only sound. The buttons do not work. The TV a complete write-off.

Summary
Over the moon with it! Looks superb, Sounds the same (I do not have surround sound set up).
The improvement on Standard def picture quality is just mind blowing. My normal Cable box with Scart Connecter is visibly improved the minute you switch, as for gaming - WOW!!

My mum has one of the 32" Samsungs that everyone raves about but this is my 1st HDTV

- What are the strengths?
- Excellent TV, Looks great, Sounds Great, Freeview works brilliantly, Easy to set up (an 80 yr old- no offence- could set this up blindfolded!) Default smart sound & Pic settings offer a nice balance.
Superb Value for money - Paid £430 for mine.
- What are the weaknesses?
- Difficult to find at the moment. The obvious one is no 1080p support. However at 32" it's hard to call that a weakness

Godt til prisen
Kommentar
